Vice
President for Executive Affairs at Southern Methodist University.
In addition, Tom Barry has served as Associate Dean and
Chairman of Marketing in the Edwin L. Cox School of Business.
His degrees are in marketing: PhD from the University of
North Texas and BS and MS from Southern Illinois University,
Carbondale. Barry has received many teaching and research
awards, including the American Academy of Advertising's "Outstanding
Contributions to Advertising Research" in 1995. Professor
Barry has authored two books and numerous articles in the
three leading advertising journals. He serves on several
editorial review boards. In his current position, he works
closely with the President of Southern Methodist University,
but continues to maintain a research profile in marketing
and advertising. He recently received the Sheth Foundation
Award
for the best article in 2005 in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing
Science, and was elected to the Senior Advisory Board of the Journal of
Advertising.
