Dr. Lin
(Ph.D., Michigan State University), Professor in the Department
of Communication Sciences at University of Connecticut, is the
founder of the Communication Technology & Policy Division at
the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication.
Prior to entering academia, she worked in the advertising and
marketing industry. She teaches courses in advertising, media
technology/policy, broadcasting and research methods. While
she conducts research in the areas of uses, effects and advertising
applications for new media technology, her technology-related
research publications encompass such topics as personal computers,
the Internet, satellites, VCRs, cable TV, videotext and teletext.
One of her current research projects, funded by the National
Association of Broadcasters, addresses the programming and advertising
strategies for launching online broadcast television programs.
With a communication technology theory and research book in
press, Dr. Lin continues to build the theoretical and practical
links between the communication discipline and the communication
technology industry.
